Great, awesome, unique!
After 30 years Sylvester Stallone still manages to make a miracle: he can still awake similar feelings to those we felt the time we saw the first Rocky movie. Rocky Balboa is a sensitive movie, where a lot of space is given to the feelings of every single character, the plot is enriched with important details and the direction is soft, in order to slowly unfold the story. Rocky’s enemy, Mason “the line” Dixon, played by the real and awesome boxer Antonio Tarver is a real human being again, and loses those strange homicidal manias which Ivan Drago had. Even the ensemble characters, as Dixon’s manager, are reinvented: not the ordinary viscid and ugly manager, but correct and human.
A movie which is full of moral, but not banal and scholastic.
To make the scenes seem more real, Stallone played all the scenes in open air.
Thanks to the cooperation with the American channel HBO, Sly was able to shoot the scene of the match in a building in Las Vegas, after a real boxing match.
The choice of using a television camera, as those rally used in boxing matches, gives even more realism, and makes the viewers jump at every beat given by the two boxers.
You’ll be amazingly and pleasantly surprised by how much you’ll “suffer” for the ending of the match…
With this movie Stallone ends in the best way a saga which he represented, in good and bad times, for 30 years
The first movie of Rocky will always be an unforgettable masterpiece, but this movie comes immediately after….
It is good to go to the cinema and watch such good movies!!
P.s. unfortunately, I have to make a negative remark concerning the Italian version of the movie… The voice of Mary was given to the unknown dubber Emanuela (or Manuela) Muni.
An immature voice, which sounds as an out-of-tune bell in a harmonical orchestra, which can be compared only with the horrible voice of Monica Bellucci dubbing herself in the movie “matrix 2 and 3” or the voice of Ilaria D’Amico dubbing (?) the dragon Saphira in the Banal and grey cartoon Eragon.
We will always wonder why, with all the excellent dubbers we have in Italy, in Rome and Milan, someone can still make such a wrong choice…
It would be great if success was given to those who deserve it, and not to those who are recommended…
